Cayman Catboat Club is a Non-Profit Organisation, formed back in 1998, in the hope of keeping the Cayman tradition of building, maintaining and sailing Cayman catboats alive.
With most of the older generation who knew how to build Catboats gone, we are in danger of losing these skills.In the past, catboats were used for harvesting sea turtles and fishing. Until the 1960s, they were used for travel and transportation of goods and people between the districts.Catboats have faded into disuse as outboard marine motors and automobiles have become more common in Cayman.
